I lived through the digital transformation era, helping corporations optimize broken systems without questioning the incentives that made them broken in the first place. I ate the “heart healthy” lies, chased quarterly dopamine in business and diet alike, and mistook convenience for progress. I was, in every sense, a product of the fiat lifestyle. Bitcoin changed that. Not just the money, but the lens. It revealed the hidden threads binding our food, health, energy, technology, and values to a system of decay. Once I saw it, I couldn’t unsee it. This book is my brick in the wall we’re building together: a parallel world rooted in sound money, real food, and sovereign living. I dedicate it first to the Bitcoin community, the node runners, the ranchers, the home schoolers, the privacy builders, the educators, the quiet stackers. Without you, this movement would remain an idea rather than a living culture. Together we prove that sovereignty is not theory but practice, carried out in homes, farms, code, and meetups around the world. I dedicate it to my family, who remind me that sovereignty begins at home, in the choices we make and the values we uphold, even when life takes us on separate paths. And I dedicate it most of all to my newly born grandson. May he inherit not the decay of fiat, but the resilience of truth, time, and community. To every reader willing to opt out with intention: may we build, brick by brick, a civilization our children and grandchildren will be proud to inherit.Helmut Schindlwick | 7 Foreword Brick by Brick: Building a Sovereign Life on Bitcoinis a multidisciplinary manifesto that showshow fiat money has corroded not only global finance but also our food systems, health, values, and sense of sovereignty. Bitcoin as more than just a financial revolution; it is the cornerstone for a fresh lifestyle, blending ancestral health concepts like the carnivore diet, Austrian economics 1 , and actionable methods for stepping away from broken, centralized systems. This book draws from my 25+ years of experience in digital transformation, enterprise architecture, and IT leadership. It weaves personal stories, case studies, andresearchcontent into a practical framework for both individual and societal change. Readers Who Will Benefit Most: • Bitcoin enthusiasts seeking more than price speculation •Libertarians, anarcho-capitalists, and students of Austrian economics • Followers of carnivore or keto lifestyles • Digital transformation professionals and CIOs •Anyone curious about sovereignty, digital minimalism, and self- reliance What Makes This Book Different: • Connects Bitcoin with food sovereignty, health, and digital independence •Written by a seasoned tech executive and published author • Balance’sphilosophy and economics with practical, accessible steps • Combines storytelling, case studies, and data visualization •Goes beyond theory: offering actionable steps, resources, and lived examples I want to take you back to a moment I remember vividly: It was early 2017 when I rediscovered Bitcoin. I say "rediscovered" because, like 8| Brick by Brick: Building a Sovereign Life on Bitcoin many in tech, I had heard of it before, dismissed it, and moved on. I was consumed with helping multinational companies "digitally transform" their operations. But this time, something resonated. Something felt different. Initially, I approached it like many people do: wide-eyed, chasing profits, and dabbling in altcoins. I thought I was investing; I even developed an online portal for an altcoin, the first ICO (Initial Coin Offering) in Austria. In reality, I was gambling with fancy branding. As time passed, the noise dwindled, my altcoin project went bankrupt, and what remained was clear: Bitcoin was not merely a superior asset. It was a better lens. It revealed what had been hidden in plain sight, a broken system designedto benefit a select few while gradually depleting the rest of us of time, wealth, health, and meaning. As a veteran in digital transformation, I had spent years advising businesses on how to optimize, automate, and innovate. We often achieved meaningful improvements. However, beneath the polished presentations, agile frameworks, and sleek dashboards, I began to feel deeperdiscomfort. Some transformations seemed more like sophisticated ways to postpone confronting broken fundamentals. We were optimizing workflows without questioning the purpose of those workflows in the first place. In one instance, a retailcompany aimed to digitize its loyalty program, not to improve customer value, but to collect more behaviouraldata for advertising profits. The technology worked. The outcome? More dopamine loops, increased debt-driven consumption, and more sugar-laden impulse buys at checkout. It struck me: we were not transforming. We were simply decorating a crumbling system with digital wallpaper. That system, the core we were constructing on, was deeply shaped by fiat incentives. The same distortions that inflated the money supply and eroded savings had also seeped into our thinking, our aspirations, and our definitions of progress. Consider food: Why is a bag of paprika- flavoured crisps cheaper than a dozen eggs? Why is red meat vilified while processed seed oils are branded as "heart healthy"? The more I investigated, the clearer it became that fiat money had made real food a luxury and normalized chronic illness. Then it dawned on me: We are not merely living under a flawed monetary regime. We are ensnared in a fiat lifestyle.Helmut Schindlwick | 9 This book is about escaping that lifestyle. It’s about reclaiming sovereignty, beginning with money but not ending there. We delve deep into Bitcoin, yes, but also into Austrian economics, ancestral health, proper human diet3, and how to construct what I call the "sovereign stack": a practical framework for living freely in an increasingly controlled world. This journey isn’t about perfection. I didn’t withdraw from society, buy a goat, and vanish into the woods. It’s about alignment: aligning how we earn, spend, eat, and live with a system that rewards truth, long- term thinking, and resilience. In the chapters ahead, you’ll encounter real stories, historical context, technical insights, and numerous practical steps. You’ll also find humour, charts, analogies (yes, I will compare central banking to a leaky washing machine), and Hyperlinks, QR-Codeslinking to deeper explorations: podcasts, videos, and visual explainers. In the end, this book acts as a guide, not to a perfect world, but to chooseto step away, calmly, purposefully, and with happiness. The real revolution is not solely digital or financial. It is fundamentally human.Next >
